Ceiling of the Sistine Chapel was painted by Michelangelo during the High Renaissance. Michelangelo did not trust assistants, dismissed them all and painted alone. Did almost the entire Chapel himself. Michelangelo used scaffolding and laid on his back reaching to paint the ceiling.
