Native American Masks
Native American masks were generally made by a male of high status. These masks are generally made of red cedar wood. The tools would be made to cut, shape and gouge the masks into the desired shape. Paint was also made by mixing charcoal, graphite, lignite, ochre and copper minerals. Also enhancements would be added of feathers, hair, gold, straw, skin and other materials were added.
The Native Americans made these masks for secret rituals and ceremonies. These ceremonies would occur during war, to conjure or to bring people to the tribe.
