Clay was available everywhere in Greece, however, the one preferred was Attic Clay. It had a high iron content that made the clay an orange-red color.

All vases were made on a potters wheel, and the pieces were made in sections. The process of connection and creation are the same as we use today. A kiln was used to fire the vase to achieve the same expectations as today.
