Self-Portraits
Rembrandt is famous for his self-portraits. Known to be a vain man he focused on self-portraits for a portion of his career. He did become a highly sought after commissioned portrait artist. His lighting and attention to detail allowed him to create paintings that today resemble photographs.
He created more than 90 self-portraits. He used himself to study separate facial expressions and create himself into a celebrity.
