Giuseppe Arcimboldo created self-portraits as the four seasons. In each he uses his famous plants, food and animals. Each season not only resembles him but also utilizes the nature of that time period.
King Augustus of Saxony saw Arcimboldo's work and commissioned a copy of his "The Four Seasons" incorporating his own monarchic symbols
He even creates hidden forms and portraits in this manner.
