Pieta

Michelangelo most famous sculpture is called Pieta.

Created 1498-99 in marble

This sculpture shows the problematic combo of figures. Even though it is created in marble you can see where Mary's fingers push into Jesus' side. It is amazing the flow of the cloth and details created in stone. As you walk around the piece the detail remains and you are standing before Jesus and his mother.
